Walton Moss Walk 2024

ordnance survey map showing the grid I walked

I originally did this walk in 2015, after just under a decade, I returned in 2024.

The place had not changed. 10,000 years ago it was a shallow lake around the Neolithic, after the ice retreated, when humans were just starting to make tools. It is not a place in a rush.

I did the same walk but this time my navigation was better. My GPS track is shown above. I wrote four posts, one about each leg. The whole walk took about an hour and a half. Walking, as the four post recount, is difficult. The thing that amazes me is that we now have roads and motorways and cars and before these, this would be what all walking off the beaten track would be like, before the wetlands were drained.
