Went Outside Looking for the New Year
December 31st 23:59:45 2022.
Went outside.
The garden was pitch black,
Silent, but for the sound of rain,
And the grumbling of distant fireworks.
Returned 30 seconds later in 2023.
It seems new years only arrive indoors.
