Making . Things . Happen

Arts . Outdoors . Health

Making art and going outdoors, for people who don’t make art or go outdoors.

Do the Work

“My philosophy of work is, that a man is worked upon by that upon which he works. … That work which requires the most thought, skill and ingenuity, will receive the highest commendation, and will otherwise do most for the worker.”

Frederick Douglass, “Blessings of Liberty and Education (1894)”

This suggests that when we make an artwork we work on ourselves in making it.

This is intrinsically the process present in the arts therapies. Making art can make us healthier.
